Whitney Ide is a qualified professional counselor who holds licenses to practice in both Missouri and Kansas. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri at Kansas City where she concentrated her educational focus on both general mental health areas and substance abuse issues. Whitney is certified by the State of Kansas’s office of Addiction and Prevention Services, as an alcohol and drug counselor.

Prior to starting her private practice, Whitney was no stranger to the medical health fields. Upon entering graduate school, Whitney had already spent 10 years employed by various hospitals in a wide range of occupational capacities. These included variety of administrative, mentoring, and training positions which taught her the importance of many different aspects of general  health and well-being, including not only those concerning the physical body, but the mind and spirit as well.

Whitney helps her clients through exploration and insight into their underlying core concerns, rather than a rigid, primary focus on their presenting symptoms. She does this by providing a confidential, non-judgmental and safe environment for her clients to share and explore their issues at their own pace. Whitney does not conduct therapy as an expert, but rather an associate or advocate on the client’s behalf. Whitney believes the therapeutic relationship is a teamwork process wherein deep listening occurs. This process stimulates the enhancement of personal strengths and empowerment to reach personal goals.

Whitney is passionate about counseling and its possibilities. She provides wide range of therapeutic services that help individuals, couples and families achieve their goals through an authentic, caring and supportive process. Whitney’s training, experience and interests allow her to focus on issues of addiction and substance abuse, sexual concerns, relationship concerns and life-role changes (i.e.-career change, marriage, divorce, retirement, empty nest and aging parents).

Whitney accepts most forms of insurance and offers a flexible schedule that ranges from early afternoon to late evening appointments. She can be reached through Psychology Offices at 816-931-9912, on her cell phone at 816-803-8889 or through e-mail at whitneyide@yahoo.com.
